Collado Villalba Town Hall has completed the comprehensive renovation of the El Carrizal Lagoon Park, with an investment exceeding 200,000 euros. The works include improvements to the pumping system, the sports court, and a biological treatment to restore water quality.
The El Carrizal Lagoon Park looks renewed after an investment of over 200,000 euros carried out by Collado Villalba Town Hall. The works have affected several key points of the space, from the hydraulic system of the waterfall to the sports court and urban furniture.
The most notable action has been the complete replacement of the hydraulic, electrical, and pumping system of the waterfall, with a budget of 136,682.08 euros. According to the Town Hall, the new infrastructure improves water oxygenation, reduces energy consumption, and incorporates a remote management system and a floating pump to increase aeration.
The Councillor for the Environment, Adán Martínez, has pointed out that a process has been used in which noise does not affect the neighbours, something that previously occurred. He also highlighted that the treatment applied to the sludge has allowed the lagoon to avoid being drained, preserving the biodiversity of the area.
“This has meant that the lagoon has not had to be drained, with all the problems, not only economic but also of biodiversity, all the fauna we currently have would disappear,” Martínez explained.
Improvement of the sports court and furniture
The renovation has also included the remodelling of the park's sports court, with an investment of 48,311.52 euros. The works have consisted of repairing the surface, installing a non-slip pavement, renewing the fencing, and replacing various sports elements.
Additionally, walls and railings have been repainted, benches have been replaced, and the cobblestone pavement has been repaired. The aim, according to municipal sources, is to provide a safer and more attractive space for residents, who use these facilities daily for leisure and sports.
Biological treatment for the lagoon
The Town Hall is developing a biological treatment based on mineral solutions and natural microorganisms to reduce algae proliferation, improve water oxygenation, and promote the degradation of accumulated sludge. The first results will begin to be seen progressively from next September.
This treatment, which has avoided draining the lagoon, represents both economic and ecological savings, according to the Town Hall. The park's fauna, composed of ducks, frogs, and other species, has remained intact during the works, something that residents have appreciated.
The total investment of 200,000 euros has been financed with municipal funds. The Town Hall assures that the park is one of the green lungs of the locality and that these actions improve the quality of life for residents.
Residents of Collado Villalba can now enjoy the improvements, which include a cleaner environment and renovated sports facilities. The park, located in the El Carrizal area, is a regular meeting point for families and athletes.
