The regional government has activated 18 reception centres in 16 municipalities to assist those displaced by the wildfires. Over 2,500 residents have been evacuated, and several councillors have visited the sites to inquire about their situation.
The regional executive has launched an unprecedented emergency response to assist those affected by the wildfires ravaging the Community of Madrid. In total, 18 reception points have been established across 16 municipalities, where 2,562 people evacuated from their homes are already being accommodated.
The centres are strategically distributed across the regional geography. Móstoles has the highest number of places, with three facilities accommodating 400 people from Cadalso de los Vidrios, Fresnedillas de la Oliva, and Colmenar de Arroyo. Following this is Las Rozas, with 286 evacuees from localities such as Colmenar del Arroyo, Pelayos de la Presa, Robledo de Chavela, Fresnedilla de la Oliva, Navalagamella, Zarzalejo, Hoyo de Pinares, Peralejo, and the camping site in El Escorial.
Alcalá de Henares has 250 places, while Villaviciosa de Odón houses 227 people from Chapinería, Cadalso de los Vidrios, Navas del Rey, Pelayos de la Presa, San Martín de Valdeiglesias, El Tiemblo, and Colmenar de Arroyo. Villamanta has 220 places, Alcobendas 200, Brunete 185, Leganés 171, Getafe 162, Alcorcón 130, Sevilla la Nueva 100, Villanueva de la Cañada 88, Villamantilla 60, Pozuelo de Alarcón 30, Villanueva de Perales 28, and Navalcarnero 25.
The Digitalisation Councillor, Miguel López-Valverde, visited Brunete to check on the 185 evacuees from Navas del Rey, Pelayos de la Presa, and Chapinería. Meanwhile, the Councillor for Economy, Finance, and Employment, Rocío Albert, went to Villanueva de la Cañada, where she accompanied 88 residents from Fresnedillas de la Oliva, Chapinería, Navas del Rey, Colmenar del Arroyo, and Navalagamella.
The Councillor for Housing, Transport, and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, first visited Móstoles and then Villanueva de Perales, where 28 evacuees from Aldea del Fresno are located. The Councillor for Education, Science, and Universities, Mercedes Zarzalejo, went to Leganés to support the 171 people from Pelayos de la Presa, Chapinería, Navas del Rey, and Robledo de Chavela.
Finally, the Councillor for Family, Youth, and Social Affairs, Ana Dávila, visited Villaviciosa de Odón and then Las Rozas de Madrid, where she accompanied 286 evacuated residents from various localities. The regional government has highlighted the coordination with local councils to ensure support for the displaced.
The reception points are designed to provide temporary accommodation, food, and basic healthcare assistance. Authorities recommend that citizens stay informed through official channels and follow the instructions of emergency services. The situation is still being assessed, and it is expected that some evacuated areas may reopen in the coming hours if weather conditions allow.
This response adds to other resources mobilised, such as firefighters, forestry brigades, and aerial support, who are working tirelessly to control the fires. The Community of Madrid has activated Level 2 of the Civil Protection Plan, which involves coordinating all available resources.
