The officer, with 20 years of experience in the police forces of Getafe and Aranjuez, took the oath of office this Friday, replacing Lorenzo Antolínez, who is retiring after three years at the helm of the force.

Félix Castillo Hernández is now the new chief commissioner of the Pozuelo de Alarcón Municipal Police. The officer, who arrives with 20 years of experience in various local police forces in the region, took office this Friday at a ceremony held in the Sala La Capilla of the Town Hall.

Castillo, who until now was the head of the Aranjuez Municipal Police since 2023, took the oath of office following the retirement of Lorenzo Antolínez, who has led the Pozuelo force for the past three years. The mayor, Paloma Tejero, presided over the ceremony, which was also attended by the chief commissioner of the National Police in Pozuelo, Celso Galván, and the general director of Security 112, Luis Miguel González, among other authorities.

A commissioner with triple degree

The new commissioner not only has an extensive professional career but also a solid academic background. Castillo holds degrees in Law, Business Administration and Management (ADE), and Economics, and has master's degrees in Security and Financial Management. A profile that, according to municipal sources, will enable him to tackle the municipality's security challenges with a multidisciplinary approach.

During the event, the mayor welcomed the new chief and highlighted that Pozuelo is, according to official data, “the city with the fewest crimes in the entire region”. “We are not satisfied with that – she added –. We want our municipality to become even safer, and for that, we are investing in more human resources and better material means.”

“I have no doubt that the new commissioner, like the one who has just retired, to whom I thank for his work over these three years, will be a key player and a catalyst for the commendable work that our 170 municipal agents do every day.”

Generational change in local security

Castillo's arrival represents a generational change in the leadership of the Pozuelo Municipal Police. Antolínez, who is retiring after three years in office, has been recognized by the mayor for his work at the helm of the force. Now, the new commissioner will have the task of coordinating the 170 agents that make up the force and maintaining the good security statistics that the municipality boasts.

The swearing-in ceremony, which took place in an institutional atmosphere, also saw the presence of the coordinator of the Emergency Service of the Pozuelo Town Hall (SEAPA), Juan Antonio González. After signing the appointment decree, Castillo is now acting as the chief of the force.

For the residents of Pozuelo, the change in police leadership will not initially mean a disruption in daily life. Patrols and regular services continue as normal, although the new commissioner plans to promote new prevention and proximity measures, as he indicated during the event. In the coming months, he is expected to present his work plan to the Town Hall.
