Aisha, 30, has died after more than five months in Hospital La Paz. Her ex-partner and the two perpetrators of the attack, which occurred in February in Sevilla la Nueva, remain in prison.

The 30-year-old woman who was doused with flammable liquid and burned alive on February 2 in her home in Sevilla la Nueva passed away this Saturday. Aisha, who was holding her six-month-old baby when the attackers struck, could not survive the severe injuries she sustained over 50% of her body. The infant was unharmed.

The Secretary of State for Equality has confirmed that this is the third gender-based murder in the Community of Madrid in 2026. The investigation by the Civil Guard points to her ex-partner, Ibrahim B., 34, as the alleged mastermind of the attack, who is believed to have hired two of his workers to carry it out.

A meticulous criminal plan

According to the judicial summary, the two hitmen gained access to the family home using keys allegedly provided by the ex-husband himself. With their faces covered, they assaulted Aisha, doused her with flammable liquid, and set her on fire while she held her baby. After the attack, they fled in a vehicle owned by the suspect.

All three implicated have been in provisional custody since February. The material authors were arrested weeks after the incident and, according to investigations, were employees of companies linked to the victim's ex-husband. The judicial case, which was initially investigating a double attempted murder, has been modified to classify the events as completed murder due to gender-based violence.

Previous attempts on her life

The summary reveals that the criminal plan did not begin that night. Months earlier, Aisha had told those close to her that her husband had tried to poison her. Her brother provided investigators with a video in which the accused allegedly appears manipulating a drink with a suspicious substance.

The judicial documentation also indicates that the main suspect expressed his intention to finish off the victim while she was hospitalized in the Burn Unit of Hospital La Paz, where she had been since the attack under police protection and undergoing multiple surgeries.

Investigators believe that the motive for the crime was Aisha's decision to separate after discovering infidelity. From that moment on, according to the investigations, attempts to end her life began.

No prior complaints or protection

Aisha never reported her ex-partner and was not listed in the VioGen System, the state mechanism for monitoring and protecting victims of gender-based violence. The alleged mastermind also had no previous convictions for crimes related to violence against women. The couple had three children together.

Aisha's death raises the number of fatalities due to gender-based violence in the Community of Madrid to three in 2026. The case has shocked Sevilla la Nueva, a municipality of just over 10,000 inhabitants in the southwest of the region, where residents have shown their outrage in silent vigils.

The Sevilla la Nueva City Council has declared three days of official mourning and has called for a gathering this Sunday at 12:00 in the Plaza de la Constitución. Municipal social services are providing psychological support to the family and the minors.
