The Community of Madrid will launch a special book bus service this Friday in four towns that have hosted residents evacuated due to wildfires. The route will begin in Sevilla la Nueva and will pass through Villamanta, Villamantilla, and Villanueva de Perales.

The route will start at 9:00 AM in Sevilla la Nueva, at the municipal centre on Villanueva street, 14. At 10:30, the book bus will arrive in Villamanta, where it will serve at Barrio Nuevo street, 9. The next stop will be at 12:15 PM in Villamantilla, at the facilities on Viñas street, 9. Finally, the route will conclude at the Sports Pavilion of Villanueva de Perales, located on Castilla promenade, 1. The service hours will extend until 2:00 PM.
The book bus will offer a wide catalogue of books for all ages, as well as educational activities and audiovisual screenings for the youngest. According to sources from the regional government, the aim is to provide a cultural and entertainment respite for families who have had to leave their homes due to the fire.
The Community of Madrid has 21 reception points active in 18 municipalities to assist evacuated residents. In total, 2,701 people are being assisted in these facilities. The distribution of those affected is as follows: Móstoles (400), Las Rozas de Madrid (320), Alcalá de Henares (250), Villaviciosa de Odón (260), Villamanta (220), Alcobendas (100), Brunete (197), Leganés (185), Getafe (162), Alcorcón (130), Boadilla del Monte (125), Sevilla la Nueva (100), Villanueva de la Cañada (89), Villamantilla (33), Collado Villalba (40), Pozuelo de Alarcón (37), Villanueva de Perales (35), and Navalcarnero (18).
The wildfires, which began several days ago, have forced the evacuation of numerous homes in the western and southwestern areas of the region. Authorities continue to work to control the flames, while social and emergency services assist those affected. The book bus is one of the additional measures to alleviate the consequences of the disaster.
Residents of these municipalities will be able to access the service free of charge. The initiative is part of the Community of Madrid's efforts to maintain normalcy as much as possible and offer leisure alternatives to displaced persons. It is expected that the book bus will continue its route in the coming days if the situation requires it.
