The Alcobendas City Council has completed the renovation works of Paseo de la Marquesa Viuda de Aldama, with a budget of €1.84 million. The project has improved accessibility and road safety on a 1.6-kilometre stretch.
The Alcobendas City Council, governed by the Popular Party, has announced the completion of the renovation works of Paseo de la Marquesa Viuda de Aldama, one of the main arteries of the La Moraleja urbanisation. The total investment has amounted to €1.84 million, according to municipal sources, and has allowed for the renewal of a road over 1.6 kilometres long and 18,400 square metres in area.
The project, which is part of the infrastructure improvement plan for the Urbanisations district, has included the comprehensive renewal of all service networks, the enhancement of pedestrian accessibility, and the reorganisation of traffic to increase road safety. Additionally, the design has integrated the conservation of existing holm oaks, an element that the district councillor, Miguel Ángel García, has highlighted as a reflection of the municipal commitment to environmentally respectful growth.
“Since our mayor, Rocío García, took on the responsibility of governing Alcobendas in 2023, she was clear that this project could not wait any longer,” García stated in a press release. “Today, with an investment of €1.84 million, we have transformed a road that residents of La Moraleja and the Conservation Entity have been requesting for years.”
The works, which lasted several months, have affected one of the busiest streets in the urbanisation, used daily by hundreds of drivers and pedestrians. The tasks included the renewal of the pavement, the improvement of sidewalks, the installation of new street furniture, and the updating of horizontal and vertical signage. Public lighting has also been improved, using LED technology to enhance energy efficiency.
The district councillor has emphasised that this project is “an example of good management” and has reminded that the PP government “knows that taking care of the infrastructure in our urbanisations is taking care of the quality of life for thousands of families who have chosen Alcobendas to live.” In this regard, he has indicated that the council plans to continue the renewal of roads in other areas of the Urbanisations district.
The renovation of Paseo de la Marquesa Viuda de Aldama adds to other interventions carried out in recent months at various points in Alcobendas, such as park improvements or sidewalk renewals in the urban area. The City Council has allocated a specific budget for the conservation and modernisation of the infrastructures in the urbanisations, which house a significant portion of the municipality's population.
Residents of La Moraleja have positively assessed the completion of the works, which have resulted in a notable improvement in safety and comfort for travel. “It’s a street we use daily, and now it is much better maintained and accessible,” commented a local resident. However, some voices have pointed out that the works caused inconveniences during the execution months, although they acknowledge that the final result is satisfactory.
The Alcobendas City Council has reminded that investment in infrastructure is one of the priorities of the governing team, which seeks to “respond to residents' requests” and “advance in a city model that invests in all its districts.” Mayor Rocío García has recently visited the area to check the results of the works and has reiterated her commitment to the continuous improvement of public services.
With this project, Alcobendas reinforces its position as one of the municipalities with the highest quality of life in the Community of Madrid, especially in its urbanisations, where families demand high-level services. The renovation of Paseo de la Marquesa Viuda de Aldama is, according to the district councillor, “the line of work we must follow” to maintain the residential appeal of the city.
