Canal de Isabel II organises plans for all audiences in parks and reservoirs across the region during July and August. It includes water jets, swimming pools, cinema, and exhibitions.
The Community of Madrid has launched a programme of free outdoor activities for this summer, aimed at the whole family. Through Canal de Isabel II, the regional government has designed a dozen proposals related to water that will take place at various locations across the region during July and August.
Parque Santander, also known as the Third Reservoir, becomes one of the epicentres of summer leisure. The youngest will be able to bathe and play in the water jet area, which will remain open from 11:00 to 23:00, with breaks of 15 minutes each hour. Additionally, six misting water points have been installed in pergolas in the same area, operating under the same schedule.
Another attraction is the Vertical Garden of Parque Bravo Murillo, located at the Second Reservoir. This space features 250 square metres of vegetation, distributed along a walkway with resting areas and adapted fountains. It is an ideal place to stroll and cool off without leaving the capital.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Canal Foundation and the 175th anniversary of Canal de Isabel II, the regional government has organised a free video installation at the Fourth Reservoir. The work, by artist Rosa Muñoz, showcases images from inside the Second Elevated Reservoir, offering a unique visual experience.
The offer also extends to the municipalities of the region. In Manzanares el Real, one can take the ornithological trail of the Santillana reservoir, an ideal route for nature lovers. Another option is the 4.5-kilometre route that starts from La Hoya Encavera, near the Pinilla reservoir, and reaches the Congosto Bridge.
For those who prefer a swim in nature, the Riosequillo reservoir in Buitrago del Lozoya houses one of the largest swimming pools in Spain, with a surface area of 4,500 square metres. The recreational area features resting zones, grass, and picnic areas among pines, accommodating more than 2,300 people.
Furthermore, from July 1 to August 29, the Third Reservoir will host 'Summers in the Park 2026', a playful programme with activities for the whole family. It includes seven screenings of internationally recognised films, eight performing arts shows, and two performances by the Spanish Ballet. All activities are free.
During the same period, the photographic exhibition 'The Great Blue', by Álvaro Herrero López-Beltrán, will be available. The exhibition brings together a selection of images that invite the viewer to dive into the ocean and learn more about the lives of cetaceans.
These initiatives aim to provide leisure alternatives for all audiences, combining fun, culture, and contact with nature. Residents of the Community of Madrid and visitors will be able to enjoy a variety of plans without the need to travel long distances.
