The Community of Madrid has granted 1.5 million euros to pending applications of the MOVES III 2025 programme, after reallocating funds released from other requests. In total, 137.5 million is being managed in aid for electric vehicles and charging points.
The Community of Madrid has allocated an additional 1.5 million euros to requests that remained on the waiting list within the MOVES III 2025 programme, aimed at promoting electric mobility. This financial injection comes from funds reallocated after expirations, withdrawals, reductions, and denials of previous applications, according to the regional government.
This is not the first time this method has been used. During the processing phase, funds had already been reallocated on three previous occasions, releasing seven million euros and addressing applicants in strict chronological order of submission. With this new allocation, the region continues to process the accumulated requests.
In total, the Community of Madrid is managing 137.5 million euros in MOVES III aid, which will finance approximately 24,000 new electric vehicles and the installation of around 8,000 charging points. The programme, which closed its application period on 31 December 2025, has recorded over 50,000 requests: 30,000 for vehicles and 20,000 for charging infrastructure.
The high demand has led the regional government to request several times from the central government an extension of the available funds. The Community of Madrid was the first autonomous community to launch the incentives of the MOVES III Plan for 2025, on 11 June last year, and exhausted them in just a month. To expedite the processes, a digital platform was created accessible through the regional Energy Foundation (Fenercom).
According to data provided by the Ministry of Environment, the region has already granted 98.6% of the budget allocated for vehicle acquisition, which amounts to 111.024 million euros. Only 206 applications remain pending resolution. Regarding charging infrastructure, 93.2% of the total has been granted, amounting to 23.207 million euros, with 102 files still to be awarded.
At the same time, the regional government is maintaining the Mueve Madrid Plan, a regional initiative launched in 2024 to promote more environmentally friendly mobility. Since then, 8,513 applications worth 12.7 million euros have been received, of which nearly 75% have been granted. These aids have allowed for the scrapping of more than 6,250 old vehicles without environmental labels.
Citizens participating in the Mueve Madrid Plan receive a grant of 1,000 euros, which can rise to 2,000 if they purchase a new vehicle with an ECO or Zero Emissions label. Additionally, the plan includes other options such as transport passes or shared mobility vouchers. The programme will be in effect until 31 December this year and can be consulted on the official portal of the Community of Madrid.
With these measures, the Community of Madrid aims to accelerate the transition towards more sustainable mobility, reducing polluting emissions and promoting the use of electric vehicles among citizens. The reallocation of MOVES III funds is an example of how resources are optimised to meet the high demand for aid.
