Christopher Nolan releases 'The Odyssey', his adaptation of the Homeric poem, with Matt Damon as Odysseus and a star-studded cast. The film is already screening in cinemas across the Community of Madrid.

The cinemas in Madrid are now showing 'The Odyssey', the long-awaited adaptation of Homer's poem directed by Christopher Nolan. The film, which premiered this Friday, has generated great anticipation among viewers in the Community of Madrid, who are already filling the theatres in the capital and surrounding municipalities.

Matt Damon plays Odysseus, the hero returning to Ithaca after the Trojan War. He is joined by Anne Hathaway as Penelope, Tom Holland as Telemachus, and Robert Pattinson as the antagonist Antinous. Zendaya portrays Athena, while Samantha Morton embodies Circe.

The film follows Odysseus's journey as he faces mythological creatures such as the cyclops Polyphemus, the sorceress Circe, and the Sirens. Nolan has opted for a spectacular visual approach, without losing the epic tone of the original tale, as highlighted by critics.

In the Community of Madrid, cinemas in the capital and in towns like Pozuelo de Alarcón, Majadahonda, or Las Rozas have scheduled multiple screenings. The Kinépolis cinemas in Ciudad de la Imagen and the complexes on Gran Vía are some of the locations where the film is being shown in IMAX format, one of the preferred options for the director's fans.

The technical aspects are one of the strong points of the production. The cinematography is by Hoyte van Hoytema, a regular collaborator of Nolan, while the score has been composed by Ludwig Göransson. The production design, costumes, and visual effects maintain the standard of the director's previous films.

The cast includes some of Hollywood's biggest stars, although not all have the same level of prominence. Matt Damon carries the narrative weight as Odysseus, while Robert Pattinson delivers one of the standout performances as Antinous. Samantha Morton also shines in the role of Circe. In contrast, other names like Charlize Theron, Zendaya, or Lupita Nyong'o have more limited appearances.

The film has been surrounded by controversies on social media regarding the cast and creative decisions, although most are based on rumours. The final result prioritises narrative and spectacle over media noise.

With 'The Odyssey', Nolan confirms his ability to tackle complex productions without sacrificing ambitious storytelling. Following titles like 'The Dark Knight', 'Inception', 'Interstellar', 'Dunkirk', and 'Oppenheimer', the director once again demonstrates his skill in combining spectacle, technical ambition, and meticulous staging.

For those in Madrid wanting to see it, the film has a runtime of approximately two and a half hours. It is recommended to check the schedules on the cinema websites, as screenings in the original version and in IMAX sell out quickly.
