Two drivers have sustained potentially serious injuries following a side-impact collision on the M-601, near Collado Villalba. Both were trapped and were extricated by the Firefighters of the Community of Madrid.
A side-impact collision between two cars on the M-601, at kilometre 2 as it passes through Collado Villalba, has left two drivers with potentially serious injuries this morning. The incident occurred shortly after 7:00 AM, when the two vehicles collided head-on, according to the Civil Guard.
After the severe impact, both drivers were trapped inside their cars. Three units of the Firefighters of the Community of Madrid were dispatched to the scene, who began the extrication efforts to free the occupants and allow medical personnel from Summa 112 to intervene.
Extrication and transfer to hospitals
The firefighters worked for several minutes to open the wreckage of the vehicles, which had been severely damaged. Once rescued, the two injured individuals were stabilised at the scene by medical teams, who noted multiple traumas in both.
The younger driver, aged 21, was evacuated to the Hospital Puerta de Hierro, while the second, aged 43, was transferred to the Hospital de La Paz. Both hospitals are on alert to receive patients in potentially serious condition.
