President Isabel Díaz Ayuso has announced that the five Mobile Citizen Attention Offices will be deployed from tomorrow to the 15 reception points established to assist those affected by the fires in the Sierra Oeste.
The President of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, announced this Friday the deployment of the five Mobile Citizen Attention Offices at the 15 reception points set up for those affected by the forest fire impacting the Sierra Oeste. Starting tomorrow, July 27, these vehicles will begin to provide services at the reception centres, where they will offer psychological support, information, and assistance with administrative procedures.
The announcement was made during the President's visit, alongside the Kings of Spain, to the sports centre in Villamanta, where 220 evacuated residents are housed. There, Ayuso explained that the mobile offices could also assist in other municipalities if necessary, balancing this task with their usual routes. This resource adds to the 14 reception points already operational, distributed across towns such as Alcalá de Henares, Alcobendas, Alcorcón, Brunete, Getafe, Las Rozas, Leganés, Móstoles, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Sevilla la Nueva, Villamantilla, Villanueva de la Cañada, Villanueva de Perales, and Villaviciosa de Odón.
These vehicles are designed to bring regional administration closer to municipalities with fewer than 65,000 inhabitants, facilitating procedures without the need for long journeys. In this emergency, they will prioritise those affected by the fire, many of whom have lost their homes or have been evacuated as a precaution.
Over 55,000 evacuees and priority assistance
According to data from the regional government, more than 55,000 residents remain evacuated or confined in 15 municipalities of the Community of Madrid. Additionally, 1,300 users from 21 residences and social care centres have been moved to safe locations. The President has emphasised that there is ongoing communication with the mayors of the affected towns and that on-site visits are being conducted to coordinate the response and support the municipalities.
The Community of Madrid has also provided psychological support at all reception points and guarantees the supply of medication to those confined at home as well as to those housed in these resources. The mobile offices will enhance this assistance, offering a direct point of contact with the administration to resolve queries regarding aid, rehousing, or documentation.
The fire, which began last Wednesday in the Sierra Oeste, has necessitated the activation of level 2 of the Emergency Plan and has mobilised numerous firefighting units, forest brigades, and the UME. Weather conditions, with high temperatures and wind, have complicated extinguishing efforts, although some fronts were stabilised overnight.
Psychological support and management of procedures
Residents who approach the reception points will be able to receive specialised psychological support to cope with the stress and uncertainty of evacuation. Furthermore, the mobile offices will facilitate procedures such as applying for emergency aid, replacing lost documents, or processing temporary accommodation.
President Ayuso has thanked the emergency services for their efforts and the collaboration of the municipalities, assuring that the regional government will spare no resources to assist those affected. “We are dedicated to helping those who have lost everything,” she declared during her visit to Villamanta.
For the residents of the Community of Madrid, especially those from the Sierra Oeste, these mobile offices represent administrative relief in a time of crisis. The 15 reception points will remain open as long as necessary, and affected individuals are advised to consult official channels to find the exact location of each mobile office and their opening hours.
