The new coach of Real Madrid, José Mourinho, has already debuted the official car provided by the club. The Portuguese has opted for the BMW XM, the most expensive model in the range and the first plug-in hybrid from the M division, valued at up to 200,000 euros.
José Mourinho has returned to the Ciudad Deportiva de Valdebebas and has already made his first mark: a BMW XM that has become his official vehicle for the new chapter at the helm of Real Madrid. The Portuguese coach, who knows what it is to win in the capital, has coincided in his choice with several of his players.
The 'Special One' and BMW's 'Special One'
Mourinho, known as the 'Special One', has chosen a car that is also special within the German brand's catalogue. The BMW XM is the first plug-in hybrid from the M division, allowing it to display the Zero label from the DGT. This is no minor detail for moving around Madrid without restrictions.
The Portuguese thus joins the list of footballers who already enjoy this SUV in the white squad. Thibaut Courtois, Ferland Mendy, Dean Huijsen, Federico Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni, Jude Bellingham, and Rodrygo Goes had already opted for the same model. Mourinho, true to his style, did not want to be left out.
The choice was revealed at the entrance and exit of the first training sessions, where dozens of fans awaited the coach. His first decision as coach in this second stint has been, precisely, the car. And he has not disappointed motor fans.
A 750 HP SUV costing €200,000
The BMW XM is not just any car. With dimensions of five meters long, two meters wide, and 1.75 meters high, it is an imposing SUV. The wheelbase exceeds three meters, ensuring a spacious interior for the coach and his staff.
Under the hood, the V8 engine combined with an electric unit develops from 653 HP to 750 HP in the Label Red version. The latter is the most powerful and also the most expensive, reaching 200,000 euros. The base version starts at 130,000 euros, but Mourinho has opted for the most exclusive one.
The performance is brutal: it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 282 km/h. Moreover, its battery allows for a range of 88 kilometers in 100% electric mode, sufficient for daily urban commutes.
The car that unites the squad
The collaboration between Real Madrid and BMW remains in effect, and the XM has become the most common car in the Valdebebas parking lot. Mourinho has joined the trend, albeit with a personal touch: he has chosen the colour and finishes he likes best, according to club sources.
For Madrid fans, seeing the new coach behind the wheel of this behemoth is an image that is already becoming familiar. The Portuguese moves through the capital with style and power, making it clear that his return is not only to win titles but also to do so with class.
