The cultural programme Veranísimos in Las Rozas offers a tribute concert this Saturday to the band of Manolo García and Quimi Portet, along with circus, tango, and classic cinema.
The City Council of Las Rozas, through its Cultural Foundation, has prepared a weekend full of activities within the Veranísimos cycle, which combines music, circus, and open-air cinema. The most anticipated event arrives on Saturday with the tribute A Contrarreloj to El Último de la Fila, one of the most iconic bands of national pop rock.
A faithful tribute to the essence of Manolo García and Quimi Portet
The group A Contrarreloj, formed by musicians with extensive experience, will perform a trio concert at the Parque París auditorium starting at 22:00. Admission is free, and a large turnout of nostalgic locals from the anthems of the eighties and nineties is expected.
According to the organisers, the show faithfully reproduces the musical universe of El Último de la Fila, with songs such as “Insurrección” and “El roce del cuerpo”. Attendees will be able to relive the magic of a band that marked an entire generation.
Friday of circus, tango, and Oscar-winning cinema
The programme kicks off on Friday with two very different proposals. At 20:00, the amphitheatre of Parque 1º de Mayo hosts Lullaby, a contemporary circus show by the company Proyecto Kavauri, designed for all audiences. Admission is free.
Later that night, at 22:30, the Dehesa de Navalcarbón stage offers Tango y mucho más, a recital of singing and piano that traverses boleros, zarzuela, Spanish songs, and themes by Nino Bravo. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office of the Auditorio Joaquín Rodrigo.
On Saturday, in addition to the tribute, the film Amadeus (1984) will be screened in Plaza de España at 22:00, as part of the Classic Cinema cycle. The film, which won 8 Oscars, narrates the rivalry between Salieri and Mozart. The screening has been moved to Saturday due to the Spanish national team's match against Belgium on Friday.
Fan zone to cheer on Spain in the quarter-finals
On Friday, at 21:00, the Spanish national team faces Belgium in the quarter-finals of the international tournament. The City Council has installed giant screens in Plaza de España, which will become a fan zone from 20:30, featuring a DJ and activities.
To ensure safety, the Local Police will regulate access from 19:30 via Avenida de los Toreros and the streets Galicia, Ebro, Quicos, and Fuente. Access with glass containers or dangerous objects is not permitted.
Brandy Be and more weekend plans
On Sunday, from 10:30 to 15:00, Calle Real will host the Brandy Be market, featuring 40 stalls of fashion, accessories, and decoration, along with music and family activities. It takes place on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.
The residents of Las Rozas thus have a weekend full of cultural and leisure options, with proposals for all ages and tastes. The complete programme of Veranísimos can be consulted on the municipal website.
